After You Dessert Cafe

Gate-side honey toast fix before boarding at BKK

After You Dessert Cafe at Suvarnabhumi Airport sits airside in the Main terminal, handy if you have at least 30 minutes to spare before boarding. This is the airport outpost of the Bangkok chain that turned Shibuya honey toast into a Thai cult favorite, so the menu leans almost entirely sweet. Seating is tight and usually fills in short bursts after evening bank departures, but turnover is fast enough that you rarely wait more than 10–15 minutes for a table.

Prices run higher than downtown: expect around 200–280 THB for the classic Shibuya honey toast and 120–180 THB for drinks like iced Thai tea, lattes, or frappes. Portions are big; a single honey toast easily feeds two people who just ate a meal in the Main terminal food court. If you’re solo and don’t want a sugar crash before a long-haul, go for kakigori-style shaved ice, which usually lands closer to 180–220 THB and feels lighter.

Service runs on airport time, not mall time: orders typically hit the table in 10–15 minutes, but add another 5 during the late-night wave of departures from BKK. Everything is ordered and paid at the counter first, so have a credit card or at least 300 THB cash ready. Staff call orders by name and flight announcements are audible from the seating area, so you won’t miss a boarding call for a Main terminal gate nearby.

The signature move here is still honey toast: thick-cut bread fried in butter, scored into cubes, and topped with ice cream and syrup. If you’re boarding a red-eye to Europe or Australia from the Main terminal, split one and pair it with an Americano instead of the heavier frappes. Skip anything you can get at generic chains in town; the point of stopping at After You in BKK is the toast, not another basic iced latte.

Tip: check your gate first; if it’s a remote stand with bus boarding, be at your gate at least 40 minutes before departure and leave After You in the Main terminal when you still have a 60-minute buffer.
