Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge

Most *A regulars at BKK start here, then wander off

This Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge sits in Concourse C of Suvarnabhumi’s Main terminal and functions as the default Star Alliance business option, but frequent flyers often rate EVA, Singapore Airlines, and sometimes Turkish above it for food or showers.

Access is for Star Alliance business-class passengers and Star Gold flying *A from BKK, with the lounge past security in the international departures zone near the C gates, so it’s handy if you’re flying TG or any *A carrier off C or D.

Figure standard opening from early-morning departures around 05:00 through the late-night TG banks near 23:00, covering most Star Alliance long-haul banks to Europe and regional runs to places like SIN, HKG, and TPE.

Food is the main weak spot: expect a small rotation of hot Thai dishes, basic Western snacks, and sandwiches, often reviewed as “bland” when compared directly to EVA or SQ in the same airport, with beer and house wine included but few interesting spirits.

Seating is mostly armchairs in rows facing the tarmac and interior corridors, with power outlets scattered but not at every seat, so if you need to charge a laptop before a TG 3xx Europe flight, do a quick lap and grab a wall-side spot.

Wi‑Fi runs off the airport or lounge network, normally fast enough for streaming and calls, and passwords are printed on slips at reception, which you’ll hit immediately after scanning your boarding pass at the Concourse C entrance.

Showers are limited and not as modern as the EVA or Turkish facilities in the same terminal, so regulars often pop in here first for a drink and a seat, then walk over to EVA or TK for a proper clean-up before a long overnight sector.

Pricing is effectively “free” on a business ticket or with Star Gold, and there’s no widely used paid day-pass like Priority Pass here, which pushes casual visitors toward the independent lounges elsewhere in the Main terminal.

Frequent BKK *A flyers on FlyerTalk describe a pattern: start in a Thai Royal Silk or Royal Orchid lounge for easier access from your gate, then lounge hop to EVA for better food or to Turkish for showers and sometimes short massage services.

Practical tip: if your flight departs from gates C1–C10, give this lounge 20–30 minutes for a quick drink and email catch-up, then allow at least 10 extra minutes to walk to EVA or Turkish if you want stronger food or shower options.
