From 8am–9pm, most non-SQ Star Golds get turned away
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge sits on Concourse A in the Main terminal at BKK, but as of 15 April 2025 it stops admitting Star Alliance Gold passengers who are not flying SQ between 08:00 and 21:00 because of chronic crowding around SQ departures.
Location, access, and when it actually makes sense
You’ll find the entrance along Concourse A, airside in the Main terminal, signed for Star Alliance lounges near other A-gates. Access in practice skews to business class and Star Golds on SQ metal, plus eligible PPS/KrisFlyer elites; regular Star Golds on TG, BR, TK and others only get a shot outside that 8am–9pm blackout window.
Food, drinks, and the Tom & Jerry detail
FlyerTalk regulars rate the food as “very pleasant,” with hot dishes rotating through Asian options, a small salad bar, and a dessert counter that has included Tom & Jerry ice cream. Drinks lean on self-serve liquor, standard beers, and soft drinks from a fridge line; nothing rare, but better than the generic contract lounges further down the Main concourse.
Bathrooms, cleanliness, and the missing showers
The lounge wins praise for cleaner toilets compared with some older BKK facilities, but one frequent user calls the SilverKris bathrooms “tiny and cramped,” and there are no showers at all. If you want a rinse before a long-haul, EVA’s and Turkish’s lounges in the Main terminal both offer shower rooms that regulars rate higher.
Crowding pattern and how regulars play it
The space reportedly “gets packed just before a SQ flight then empties out” several times a day, matching the outbound banks to SIN. Regulars with access time their visits for the gaps between SQ departures, slipping in 45–60 minutes after boarding starts to find open seats instead of circling for a spot.
How to combine with other Star Alliance lounges
Star flyers who care about a proper shower often grab a plate and a drink here, then walk on to EVA or Turkish within the Main terminal for shower facilities and a quieter seat. Figure 5–10 minutes on foot from Concourse A to the BR/TK cluster, plus another 5 minutes for check-in at the second lounge.
Watch out for and one last tip
Biggest traps: arriving between 8am–9pm as a non-SQ Star Gold and getting refused, or showing up in the 30 minutes before an SQ departure and finding every chair taken. Check your boarding pass: if it doesn’t show SQ, and your departure sits in that blackout block, head straight to EVA or Turkish instead and don’t waste time walking to Concourse A first.
