Mixed Snack Platter and cheap coffee past T1 security

In BJX Terminal 1 after security, Snack Bar is the main airside counter that people talk about because prices sit closer to street level than the usual airport markup. It stays open around normal flight banks, but reports say everything in the terminal shuts by about 23:00, so ignore the “24/7” idea and don’t count on it for true overnights.

You’ll find it post-security in T1, before you peel off to the individual gates, and it’s one of only about four places to eat in the whole airport. The setup is basic fast food and snacks: think sandwiches, chips, pastries, and bottled drinks at roughly $-tier pricing compared with the rest of Mexico’s airports. Expect to pay far less here than at MEX or GDL for a similar coffee and pastry combo.

The signature Mixed Snack Platter is the move if you want one item that can pass as a light meal; it’s usually a mix of chips, nuts, and a couple of warm bites, enough to tide you over on a short domestic hop. Rating sits around 4 out of 5 from flyers who mostly sound relieved that it isn’t a wallet trap. For solo travelers, a platter plus a drink can come in well under what you’d expect at a major hub.

Regulars on Skytrax and travel forums say they eat properly in León or Silao, then hit Snack Bar only for a soda, coffee, or small bite before boarding. They also mention grabbing something right after security instead of waiting near the far gates, because there’s basically just this generic snack counter airside and it can get picked over at peak morning and evening departures.

Watch out for: limited stock during rush hours; by 07:00–09:00 and 18:00–20:00, popular items may be gone and lines can back up since BJX has so few alternatives. One last tip: if your flight departs after 22:00, bring food from outside the airport, because this stand is likely shuttered by then.
