Gate-side pizza in T1 beats another sad sandwich
In BJX Terminal 1, Pizza Place sits post-security in the main departures area and runs roughly 11:00 to 21:00, so it covers the lunchtime and early-evening bank of flights. It’s an Italian fast-food counter, not a full restaurant, and the whole pitch is quick slices and soft drinks you can carry straight to the gate.
Prices land in the mid-range ($$ for the airport), so expect to pay a little more than in town but less than sit-down spots in bigger hubs. The menu stays tight: classic pizzas with standard toppings, a couple of pastas at most, and bottled drinks or fountain soda. Service runs at airport pace: order, pay, wait a few minutes, and you’re out.
The move here is the Margherita Pizza, which shows up hot with a decent crust, tomato sauce that isn’t overly sweet, and enough cheese that a single slice can work as a small meal before a 2–3 hour flight. If you’re really hungry or flying through dinner, plan on two slices and a drink to stay full. Given the fast-food setup, customization tends to be minimal beyond simple add-ons.
Rating-wise, Pizza Place sits near the top of BJX food options with a score around 4.9 out of 5, which says more about limited airport competition than fine dining, but still makes it an easy pick over generic snacks. Since the kitchen closes at 21:00, later departures after 22:00 shouldn’t bank on getting a hot meal here before boarding.
Tip: order to go about 25–30 minutes before boarding time in T1, then eat at your gate instead of trying to balance a tray at the counter during a boarding call.
