Starbucks

Main Terminal Starbucks sits past security near the central rotunda.

This is the only Starbucks in Birmingham-Shuttlesworth’s Main Terminal, sitting airside after security and serving the standard national menu. You’ll see it just beyond the consolidated checkpoint, a few minutes’ walk from most BHM gates, which helps if your flight boards from the middle of the concourse. Expect the usual espresso, brewed coffee, teas, refreshers, and a small pastry case with breakfast sandwiches and protein boxes.

Hours track the flight bank, generally opening early morning for the first departures and running until the last Main Terminal flights push back in the evening. Prices run at typical airport-Starbucks levels, with a tall brewed coffee coming in above what you’d pay in town and specialty lattes another dollar or two higher than off-airport Birmingham locations. Mobile order availability can vary by day, so budget a little extra time during morning rush.

Food is the standard reheated lineup: Sausage, Cheddar & Egg Sandwich, Bacon & Gouda, and the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich are usually in the warmers, along with classic and blueberry muffins around the $3–$4 mark. If you need something slightly more substantial before a 2–3 hour flight, the protein boxes and wraps in the cold case are safer bets than the pastries, which can sit for a while during midday lulls.

Afternoons see a run on cold drinks, especially iced caramel macchiatos and refreshers, so drinks with multiple customizations can slow your wait to 10+ minutes at peak. Lines spike around the top of the hour when several flights board at once, since this Starbucks serves all Main gates with no second location in the concourse. If you’re tight on time, stick to drip coffee or an Americano and skip complex orders.

Tip: hit Starbucks right after clearing security, not when your group is already lining up at Gate B2 or B3; you’re only a few minutes’ walk away, but boarding at BHM often starts a solid 35 minutes before departure.
