£30 gets you into the Causeway Lounge’s calm at BFS T1
The Causeway Lounge sits in the main Terminal 1 at Belfast International, airside after security, and serves as the airport’s pay-per-use option when the gate area feels packed. You pay at the desk (or via third‑party lounge schemes) and get access to a quiet room with alcohol, soft drinks, and light snacks, but nothing like a full restaurant meal.
This is a single shared lounge for multiple airlines in T1, so it can fill up around morning departures between 06:00 and 09:00, then ease off by mid‑day. Seating is mostly standard armchairs and small tables, all within a short walk of the main departure gates used by easyJet and other carriers. Power outlets are present but not at every seat, so charge your phone at the wall if you spot a free socket near your chair.
Food runs to basics: pastries and toast in the morning, then crisps, biscuits, and simple cold snacks later in the day. Expect very limited hot options at any time, usually just soup or something similarly minimal, so don’t rely on Causeway Lounge for a full hot lunch before a 13:00 departure. If you want a proper meal, eat in the terminal food court first, then use the lounge for a drink and a quieter seat.
Drinks are stronger than the food offering: alcoholic options typically include standard spirits, house wine, and mainstream beers, all self‑serve within the lounge’s rules. Soft drinks, tea, and coffee sit on the same central counter, with basic espresso machines that handle a quick cappuccino before an 07:30 flight. There’s no barista service, showers, or spa here; think simple refreshments and a seat away from the gate noise.
Because access is pay‑per‑use from the main terminal, Causeway Lounge works best when you have at least 60–90 minutes before boarding out of T1 and want Wi‑Fi, snacks, and a drink rather than sitting at a public gate. One practical tip: eat something substantial landside or in the food court, then time your entry so you get one solid work or relax block in the lounge before walking to your gate number on the screens.
