Near T1 central security, this “Turkish Delight” shop is your quick sweet stop

Turkish Delight sits airside in Terminal T1, a short walk from the main security lanes and gate cluster. Stock skews heavily to boxed lokum and nut-filled sweets aimed at carry-on gifting. Expect airport pricing rather than city-center bargains, but you do get neatly packaged 250–500 g boxes that survive long flights. If you forgot to buy anything in town, this is the make-up stop before boarding.

Hours aren’t clearly posted online, but most T1 concession units open for morning departures and run through late-evening charter banks, roughly aligning with flights between 06:00 and 23:00. The shop focuses on pre-packed sweets over loose counters, so service is usually fast even when an AYT charter wave hits. Figure 5–10 minutes to browse and pay, not a 30-minute detour.

Expect the core lineup: rose, pistachio, hazelnut, and mixed-flavor Turkish delight boxes, plus some chocolate-covered options. Prices tend to climb with pistachio content; the larger mixed boxes often give better value per gram than small “sampler” tins near the front. If you care about freshness, reach for boxes stacked a bit further back on the shelf, not the ones sunning under the brighter display lights.

Payment is standard airport mix: cards widely accepted, including major credit cards in euros or Turkish lira, and change typically given in TRY. Bags are light enough for cabin baggage and usually fall well under stricter 8 kg carry-on rules. One last tip: if you have a tight connection at T1, shop on the way to your gate, not during boarding, since lines can spike when a single 180-seat A321 unloads at once.
