Big Macs in T2 when you just want something familiar

This McDonald’s sits airside in Terminal T2, handy if your flight goes out on one of the big European package carriers that use this pier. It’s standard global McDonald’s, so expect burgers, fries, chicken items, coffee, and soft drinks, with menu boards in Turkish and English and prices in TRY. Card payments are widely accepted, which helps if you’re burning through the last of your lira before departure.

Opening hours track the outbound bank of flights in T2, so it’s usually running from early morning departures around 06:00 through late-night charters that push close to midnight. That means you can grab an Egg McMuffin-equivalent with coffee before a 07:30 flight or hit it for a McChicken and fries on a 22:00 departure. When traffic peaks, lines form fast, but service tends to move in 5–10 minute bursts as they clear each wave of customers.

Pricing runs higher than city McDonald’s locations, as you’d expect in an international terminal, but still undercuts many sit-down spots in AYT. A basic meal (burger, fries, drink) often lands in the mid‑hundreds of lira, while coffee-only orders come in cheaper than the big coffee chains elsewhere in T2. Portions and packaging match what you see at other European McDonald’s outlets, so nothing odd in sizing or sides.

Seating is shared with the general gate area in T2, so you’ll likely carry your tray to nearby rows of standard terminal seats rather than a dedicated dining zone. That also means you can keep your boarding gate in sight while you eat, which is useful when T2 gets busy and PA announcements are hard to hear. Trash cans fill quickly at peak times, so you may need to walk 20–30 meters to find an emptier one.

Tip: if your gate is at the far end of T2, order to go and walk down while you eat so you’re not sprinting 10–15 minutes just before boarding starts.
