Gate-facing grills in Terminal A
The Meat District sits airside in Terminal A at Zayed International Airport, a few minutes’ walk from most long-haul gates. It runs on the $$$ side for the terminal, so think more special-meal pricing than a quick sandwich stop. Seating is standard restaurant tables, not bar stools, so it works better for a proper sit-down before a 6–14 hour flight.
This is a grill-focused menu with steaks, burgers, and other meat plates taking center stage. Mains typically climb into the higher double digits in AED, especially for larger steak cuts. Portions lean generous by airport standards, so a single main and one side often cover one hungry traveler. Expect plated service and a slower pace than the food court upstairs.
Because it’s in Terminal A, The Meat District mainly catches Etihad and other long-haul passengers passing through AUH. It’s fully post-security, so you need your boarding pass in hand and should already be through immigration and screening. Figure 60–90 minutes before boarding if you want a relaxed meal; 45 minutes or less and you’re cutting it close for made-to-order steaks.
Menu structure usually follows the grill playbook: start with shared bites, move into burgers, then the more expensive steak and mixed-grill plates at the top of the price range. Soft drinks and juices are airline-lounge-level pricey, and desserts can push the bill well past 200–250 AED for two people. Ask about cooking times on larger cuts; a ribeye or mixed grill can easily take 20–25 minutes in a busy pre-midnight bank.
Tip: If your flight leaves from one of the A20–A30 gates, ask for the check as soon as your main course lands; walking time plus security checks at the gate can add another 10–15 minutes in peak Etihad departure waves.
