Footlongs in Terminal A when you just want something known
Subway sits in Terminal A at Zayed International Airport, on the post-security side, so you can stay close to your gate while you eat. It’s the same build-your-own sandwich setup you know from outside the airport: pick bread, protein, cheese, veg, sauce, then go. Expect standard fast-food pricing for an airport, not fine-dining numbers.
The menu sticks to the usual Subway lineup: chicken tikka, tuna, turkey, veggie, and meatball subs, plus salads using the same toppings. Footlongs and 6-inch sandwiches both show up on the board, and you can ask them to toast anything. If you’re timing it against boarding, you can realistically get in and out in under 20 minutes when the queue is short.
Terminal A handles major long-haul flights, so you’ll see a rush around banked departures roughly 60–90 minutes before scheduled takeoff times. That’s when lines at Subway build and seating around the counter gets tight. If your flight leaves from an A-gate close by, grab your sandwich to go and eat at the gate; you’ll avoid hovering for one of the few open tables.
Subway’s big draw here is predictability: same sauces, same breads, same format, just inside AUH Terminal A. If you’re trying to keep costs down across a multi-leg trip, a 6-inch sandwich and a drink usually undercut most full-service spots in the terminal. It’s also one of the easier places to customize for simple dietary preferences since every topping is right in front of you.
Practical tip: if you have a tight connection in Terminal A under 40 minutes, skip the line and grab a pre-made wrap or snack from a nearby convenience stand instead of waiting for a made-to-order sub here.
