Shake Shack

Gate-side burgers in Terminal A

This Shake Shack sits airside in Terminal A, so you’re already through security before you start thinking about fries and a shake. It’s a straight shot from the main A concourse, an easy option if you’ve got a short layover and don’t want to gamble on a slower sit-down spot farther from your gate.

The menu sticks to the usual Shake Shack standards: ShackBurger-style beef burgers, crinkle-cut fries, chicken options, and frozen custard shakes. Expect airport pricing rather than city pricing — think marked up from what you’d pay at a mall location, with combo-style orders quickly climbing once you add a drink and a shake. If you want to keep it lighter on both time and money, a single burger and fries normally lands cheaper than a full add-on spree.

Terminal A handles a lot of long-haul traffic, so Shake Shack becomes the de facto American fast-food option for late departures and tight connections. Lines tend to spike in the 60–90 minutes before big widebody flights board from the A gates, which can add 10–15 minutes to your wait. If your boarding pass shows an A gate at peak evening bank hours, build in that extra buffer before queuing.

Expect standard airport seating near the counter, shared with nearby A-concourse outlets rather than a fully enclosed dining room. That means you’ll be eating within sight of gate areas and departure boards, making it easier to watch a specific A gate for boarding groups and last-minute changes. Food comes out in typical fast-casual timing, usually inside 5–10 minutes once you’ve ordered, unless the line is already snaking toward the concourse.

Tip: If your flight leaves from a distant A gate, place your order first, then use the 5–10 minute prep window to fill a water bottle and hit nearby restrooms so you don’t burn more time after you pick up your bag.
