Gate-side carbs in Terminal A

Five minutes from most Terminal A international gates, Brioche Dorée is the quick French bakery stop when you just need coffee and something in a bag. It sits airside in the main A concourse, so you’re fine staying here until about 30–40 minutes before boarding for most AUH flights.

Price tier is firmly budget for the airport: expect around 15–25 AED for pastries and 12–18 AED for basic coffee drinks. You’ll see standard French-style options — croissants, pain au chocolat, simple sandwiches on baguette — plus a few generic sweets in the 10–15 AED range. Portions run smaller than US chains but are normal for a French bakery.

Coffee is espresso-based and machine-pulled; a latte or cappuccino runs roughly 14–18 AED, while an americano is usually the cheapest hot option on the board. It’s not third-wave quality, but it beats the burnt drip you’ll get from some grab-and-go spots in Terminal A. If you’re flying overnight out of AUH, this is a decent caffeine top-up before a 7–8 hour red-eye.

For food, stick to the basics that turn over quickly: plain croissant, chocolate croissant, or a ham-and-cheese style sandwich if you see it being restocked. Anything with lots of cream or soft fillings tends to sit longer in an airport display case. If you’re about to board a 6-hour flight, grab something non-messy you can eat in your seat; avoid flaky items if you’re working on a laptop.

Seating is limited and often used as spillover for nearby gates in Terminal A, so plan on eating in 10–15 minutes or heading back to your gate area. One practical move: order takeaway, grab a bottle of water from the same transaction if they offer it, and make this your backup meal in case your flight’s catering disappoints.
