Trains arrive every 2 minutes on the Plane Train line

The Plane Train is ATL’s airside people mover that runs between Domestic, International (Concourse F), and Concourses T, A, B, C, D, and E with dedicated underground stations. Trains usually arrive about every 2 minutes during peak times and cover the full route in roughly 5 minutes end-to-end.

You ride the Plane Train after security only, connecting from the Domestic terminal or International terminal to your concourse without exiting the secure area. That means a passenger flying into Concourse B and out of Concourse F can stay airside and ride directly between those concourses without re-clearing TSA.

The system runs in a continuous loop linking the Domestic terminal, Concourses T, A, B, C, D, E, and the International terminal in that order. Each station has platform screen doors and overhead signs listing the next stops, so you can confirm you’re heading toward Domestic or International before boarding a specific train.

Each station has clearly numbered doors and floor markings that line up with the train cars, which helps during busy banks of flights when multiple planeloads crowd the platform. Audio announcements inside the cars call out every stop by name, including Domestic, International, and each lettered concourse, so you can count how many stops remain.

There is no separate ticket or fare for the Plane Train; access is included once you pass security in either the Domestic or International terminal. That keeps connections simple for passengers on tight layovers who may land at Concourse E and depart from Concourse A without needing to tap a card or buy a pass.

Step-by-step: using the Plane Train at ATL

  • 1. After security in the Domestic terminal, follow signs to the Plane Train level and take the escalator or elevator down one level.
  • 2. If you arrive into Domestic or Concourse T, check the overhead signs and use the platform marked for Concourses A through International (F), depending on your departure gate.
  • 3. If you arrive into the International terminal’s F concourse, follow the Plane Train signs down from the arrivals or gate level to the underground station serving Concourses E through Domestic.
  • 4. On the platform, confirm the direction on the digital board; one side heads toward Domestic and T, the other toward E and International.
  • 5. Board when the doors open, then count the stops to your target concourse letter (for example, three stops from Domestic to Concourse C).
  • 6. Exit at your concourse station, follow “Gates [letter]” signage up via escalator or elevator, and re-check your exact gate number on the nearest monitor.

Build a 10–15 minute buffer for Plane Train trips if you’re moving between far ends of the system, like Domestic to International, especially during peak afternoon banks.
