Greyhound picks up at the Domestic terminal lower level
Greyhound runs intercity buses from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s Domestic Terminal South lower level, outside the baggage claim area. This is ground transportation, not an in-terminal gate, so plan a few extra minutes to get down to the curb and find the Greyhound stop among the other bus and shuttle lanes.
Flights arriving into the International Terminal don’t have a Greyhound stop at that side of the airport. If you land at International, you first ride the free airport shuttle over to the Domestic Terminal, then follow signs toward Ground Transportation on the South side to reach the Greyhound pickup point.
Greyhound service here is for intercity routes, not local Atlanta transit. Think trips to other Georgia cities or out-of-state destinations instead of short hops into downtown. For in-city rides to Peachtree Center or Midtown, you’d usually switch to MARTA rail from the Domestic Terminal station rather than using Greyhound.
How to use Greyhound from ATL in 5 steps
- 1. Land and exit to baggage claim. After your flight arrives, follow signs to baggage claim in the Domestic Terminal South if you’re not already there.
- 2. Head to Ground Transportation. From the baggage claim level, follow signs marked Ground Transportation / Buses and look for exterior doors leading to the lower-level curb.
- 3. Find the Greyhound stop. At the curb, look for posted signs indicating intercity buses or Greyhound, grouped with other bus bays on the South terminal side.
- 4. Have your ticket ready. Buy your Greyhound ticket online or in advance; not every airport stop has a full ticket counter, so don’t count on walk-up purchases here.
- 5. Board when your bus arrives. Be at the stop at least 15–20 minutes before scheduled departure so you’re in place when the bus pulls up and starts loading bags.
Tip: Build in at least 45–60 minutes between your scheduled flight arrival and Greyhound departure at ATL, more if you’re landing in the International Terminal and need the shuttle over to Domestic.
