Gate-side snacks and magazines before your Aspen departure
This small Newsstand and Gifts sits in the secure area of Aspen–Pitkin County Airport (ASE), a few steps from the single main gate cluster. It’s basically your last stop for food, reading material, and small souvenirs before boarding those short regional flights to Denver, Dallas, or beyond.
Hours generally track the flight schedule, opening ahead of the first morning departures and closing after the last evening bank, so expect it to be active from roughly 6:00 a.m. to early evening during peak seasons. If you’re on one of the first United or American flights out, this is usually the only place open for grab-and-go.
Stock is typical airport convenience: bottled water and soft drinks under about $5, candy and chips in the $3–$6 range, plus gum and mints for the short hop over the mountains. There’s a basic mix of national magazines, a few paperbacks, and crossword or puzzle books, handy on weather-delay days when ASE ground stops stack up.
You’ll also see Colorado and Aspen-branded souvenirs: logo mugs around $15, keychains around $7, and the usual T-shirts and caps. Pricing runs higher than town shops on Galena Street, but still normal by small-mountain-airport standards, especially given ASE’s limited retail footprint.
Selection shrinks noticeably outside winter and summer peaks, so don’t assume a specific title or snack will be in stock during shoulder seasons like late April or October. One practical tip: grab water and a snack here before boarding, since many ASE flights run on regional jets with limited service and no chance to buy extras once onboard.
