T1

Alpaca knits at Gate T1 prices instead of city boutique markups

Anntarah sits in Terminal T1 after security at Rodríguez Ballón International, so you can grab alpaca pieces without leaving the airport bubble. It’s a straight retail stop: no food, just clothing and accessories tagged in soles, usually cheaper than high-street Lima or Cusco branches selling similar-grade knitwear.

This is all about alpaca: sweaters, scarves, shawls, and ponchos built for 8–12°C Andean mornings. You’ll also see smaller gift-sized items like beanies and gloves that fit easily into a 7 kg cabin bag. Stock leans more toward classic neutrals than runway fashion, which works if you just need something warmer than a hoodie before a 22:00 departure.

Quality sits above the random market stalls you’ll pass in Arequipa’s historic center, with more consistent stitching and labeling on the blends (baby alpaca vs regular, alpaca/cotton mixes, etc.). Tags are clear on fabric percentages, so check them; pure “100% baby alpaca” pieces usually run at the top of the price ladder compared with mixed-fiber sweaters on the same rack.

Expect airport markup: scarves can run higher than similar items downtown, and a single cardigan might cost as much as a checked-bag fee on a LATAM domestic leg. The tradeoff is time; you can be in and out in 10–15 minutes between boarding calls, instead of spending an extra hour in town hunting for shops in Yanahuara or the Plaza de Armas blocks.

One practical move: snap photos of price tags in soles and convert on your phone before paying, especially if you’re comparing against items you saw earlier in Arequipa. That quick check helps you decide if Anntarah in T1 doubles as your last-minute gift shop or just a browsing stop before your gate opens.
