Fixed-fare rides from Terminal 1 with Mill Reef Taxi

From Terminal 1 arrivals at V. C. Bird International (ANU), Mill Reef Taxi Association cars line up just outside the exit doors, past customs and baggage claim. Dispatchers work the curb from the first international arrivals of the morning until late-night flights wind down, so you can usually get a car from 6:00 to around 23:00 without calling ahead.

This is a standard taxi service, not a shared shuttle, and fares run on an official fixed-rate chart posted at the airport taxi stand near the Terminal 1 exit. Expect set prices by zone rather than a meter; for example, runs to resorts on the north coast fall into one zone, and trips to English Harbour / Nelson’s Dockyard fall into another, usually in the US$20–US$40 band depending on distance.

You pay the driver directly in the car, typically in Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD) or US dollars, with rates often quoted in both currencies at the stand. Many drivers still operate cash-only; assume you need cash unless you confirm card acceptance before loading bags into the trunk. Tipping around 10%–15% of the fare is standard on ANU runs.

Most airport-to-hotel rides with Mill Reef Taxi take 10–20 minutes for stops near St. John’s and about 30–40 minutes to the south-coast areas, traffic on Sir George Walter Highway and Old Parham Road being the main variable. Drivers usually track flight numbers on their phone and know the typical timing from Terminal 1 to the major properties by name.

All pickups originate on the arrivals side of Terminal 1; you do not need to leave the airport compound or cross any main roads to reach the Mill Reef Taxi line. For return trips back to V. C. Bird, you usually arrange directly with a driver using a local mobile number and then meet again at your hotel lobby 2–3 hours before an international departure time.

Tip: Before you get in, check the official rate board at the Terminal 1 taxi stand, confirm the exact price to your destination in XCD or US$, and agree on it with the dispatcher or driver so there are no surprises when you reach the airport exit gate.
