Café Britt

Cappuccinos at 5 a.m. by Gate 5

Café Britt sits airside in Terminal 1 at V. C. Bird International Airport, just past security and near the lower single-digit gates used by many regional Caribbean flights. It opens early for the morning bank, so you can usually grab coffee before those 06:30 departures. Seating is limited, so expect more of a grab-and-go setup than a linger-and-work spot.

Drinks run in the mid-range for an airport: expect espresso drinks and lattes to land around USD $4–$6, with basic brewed coffee a bit less. You’ll also see bottled juices and cold drinks in the same price band as other ANU vendors. Payment is straightforward: cards widely accepted, and most staff are used to handling both USD and Eastern Caribbean dollars.

Food is standard café fare: pre-made sandwiches, pastries, and snack items that work for a quick bite before boarding. Croissants, muffins, and simple ham-and-cheese sandwiches are common staples, with prices typically in the USD $5–$9 window depending on size and filling. Don’t expect a full hot kitchen or made-to-order mains; this is more about keeping you fed between immigration and boarding than replacing a sit-down restaurant.

Turnover tends to follow the flight waves, so the pastry case looks best in the early morning and around the midday departures. Later in the afternoon, choice can thin out and your options may narrow to whatever’s left on the shelf. Coffee quality is generally steady throughout the day, since they keep the espresso machine running for every departure bank.

Practical tip: if you care about selection, hit Café Britt right after security in Terminal 1 instead of waiting until your gate call; by boarding time, the better pastries and sandwiches are often gone.
