These shuttles group several guests per trip and typically head to properties within a short drive of the airport along International Airport Road and Spenard Road.
Pick-up for most hotel shuttles sits outside baggage claim on the lower (arrivals) level of the South Terminal, near doors that are numbered along the curb. The North Terminal, used for some international and seasonal flights, also routes passengers to a shuttle pick-up area on its arrivals level, with hotel vans pulling into a marked commercial vehicle lane.
Shuttles are usually 8–14 passenger vans, and many Anchorage hotels request that you call the front desk after you collect bags rather than relying on a fixed timetable. Because ANC can see late-night arrivals after 23:00, some hotels only guarantee shuttle runs during specific hours, often something like 05:00–01:00, so checking the hotel’s posted schedule before you land matters.
Most hotel courtesy shuttles are free for registered guests, with the cost folded into the room rate instead of a separate per-ride fee. Some properties cap service at a set radius, often around 3–5 miles from ANC, which covers many airport-area hotels but not all downtown Anchorage locations roughly 6–7 miles away along 5th and 6th Avenue.
Because multiple hotels run vans that look similar, drivers commonly hold a small sign or have the property name printed on the side of the vehicle; double-check before boarding so you do not end up at the wrong lobby and waste a 10–15 minute round trip back to ANC. If you do miss your van, most hotels can dispatch another within about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic along International Airport Road.
Practical tip: call your hotel from baggage claim as soon as your flight arrives at ANC, confirm the shuttle pick-up door number at the South or North Terminal, and ask for the current estimated arrival time so you are not standing outside in Anchorage weather longer than needed.
