Hudson Booksellers

Gate-side books and snacks before your ANC flight

Hudson Booksellers sits airside at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, inside the main concourse serving the South Terminal gates. It’s the standard airport mix: paperbacks, hardcovers, magazines, snacks, and bottled drinks, all a short walk from most Alaska Airlines departures. Figure on paying a few dollars over downtown Anchorage prices for books and around $3–$5 for grab-and-go items.

The shop usually opens early in the morning to catch the first South Terminal departures and stays open into the evening bank of flights. You’ll find current bestsellers, a few Alaska-focused titles, plus travel guides and kids’ activity books that work well on a 3–5 hour leg down to Seattle or the Lower 48. The magazine rack carries national titles alongside at least a couple of local publications.

Hudson’s snack shelves cover standard packaged items: chips, candy, nuts, and gum, plus refrigerated drinks and a small cooler with cold brew or energy drinks. Expect single-serve snacks in the $2–$6 range and drinks roughly $3–$5. This is also a quick spot to grab headphones, phone cables, or basic travel accessories if you forgot something at home before your Anchorage departure.

Lines here move quickly; even with 5–6 people ahead of you, checkout usually wraps in under 5 minutes. If your boarding pass shows a South Terminal gate, stop at Hudson Booksellers before walking to the far end of the concourse, since there are fewer reading options near the outlying gates.
