Hot shower after landing at AMS, landside, non-Schengen
Privium ClubLounge West sits in the non-Schengen area at Schiphol, open daily from 05:30 to 21:00, and it’s one of the very few spots at this airport where you can reliably grab a proper shower on the ground side. It functions almost like an arrivals lounge for Privium Plus members, who can enter on presentation of a same-day boarding pass even after their flight.
The lounge sits airside in the non-Schengen zone, so it mainly serves long-haul and UK/Ireland flights, and it’s quieter than the main Privium spaces closer to central flows. If you land from a non-Schengen flight and want to reset before the train into town, you can head here before leaving the controlled area, rather than going straight out to Schiphol Plaza.
Access works three ways: Privium Plus membership, paid guests at about €40 per person for those coming in with a member, and occasional day vouchers for non-members costing roughly €45–€65, depending on what’s available. Children have to be 12 or over to come in as a guest with a member, which catches some families by surprise at the door.
Food and drink run to standard European lounge fare with coffee, soft drinks and a rotating set of light snacks and cold options, all self-service and included once you’re inside. Think more “functional pre-flight bite before an 18:30 departure” than full restaurant, so eat properly in Schiphol Plaza if you want a full hot meal above lounge level pricing.
Showers are the real draw here: AmsterdamTips specifically calls out that Privium ClubLounge West has a shower, and regulars treat it as their post-red-eye clean-up spot before heading to Amsterdam Centraal. If you’ve just done an overnight into AMS that lands around 07:00, factor in 20–30 minutes here to shower, change, and then hit the train.
What regulars do: frequent AMS flyers with Privium Plus often route themselves via West even when they could exit faster, just to shower and decompress before a meeting in Zuidas. Some will even pay the ~€40 guest fee for a colleague after a long-haul so they both arrive downtown looking human.
Practical tip: if you care about that shower, head straight from your non-Schengen gate to Privium ClubLounge West before passport control, since once you walk out to landside public areas, you can’t backtrack into this lounge without re-clearing the non-Schengen channel.
