Cinnabon

★ 5

Early flights out of AMA usually mean Cinnabon for breakfast.

This Cinnabon sits past security in Terminal 1 at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, near the main departure gates, so you can grab something right before boarding. It’s a basic counter setup, mostly takeaway, and lines spike in the morning bank of departures between about 5:30 and 8:30 a.m. Rating runs a strong 5 stars on recent reviews, driven almost entirely by fresh rolls.

Menu is the standard Cinnabon lineup: Classic Rolls, MiniBon, Cinnabon Stix, and the usual coffee drinks. Expect airport pricing: a Classic Roll lands in the $5–$7 range, with coffee adding another $3–$5 depending on size and extras. If you’re watching sugar, the MiniBon at a bit under the full roll’s size is the least intense option you’ll realistically find here.

Best bet is a Classic Roll made within the last 20–30 minutes; you can usually tell by the frosting still looking glossy and the center staying soft. Ask staff directly when the last batch came out of the oven. If you just want something to carry on for later, have them box a MiniBon or Cinnabon Stix so it doesn’t get crushed under your laptop in the TSA tray.

Seating near the Cinnabon counter is limited to the standard gate chairs in Terminal 1, so plan to eat at your gate rather than standing around the counter. Coffee is basic but hot, and sizes run up to large 16–20 oz cups, which will last through most short hops out of Amarillo.

Tip: order your roll first, then coffee; that way the drink comes out last and you’re not juggling a full 16 oz cup while paying and grabbing napkins.
