$8 per day, $56 per week, 1-minute walk.
This is Waterloo’s Close-In Self-Park System, the lot sitting directly in front of the ALO terminal with a 1-minute walk to the doors. It’s the only real on-airport parking product here, and it pulls double duty as both short-term and long-term parking with the same rates. For Iowa trips, that $8 daily cap compares well against Cedar Rapids and Des Moines once you add their shuttles and higher fees.
Rates are time-banded: the first 3 hours are free, 3–6 hours is a flat $5, and 6–24 hours is a flat $8, with a weekly max of $56. You don’t pull a ticket; the automated TIBA system snaps your license plate and time stamp on entry, then reads your plate again on the way out. Leave plate covers, snow, or mud off your rear plate if you want that recognition to work smoothly.
Payment happens at exit, not upfront, so you don’t have to guess your return time. Both cash and cards work, but lanes differ: the east (left) exit lane is card-only, while the west (right) exit lane takes cash or cards. If you care about using cash, line up for the right-hand booth when you pull out.
Regulars treat the main lot as a cell phone waiting area by leaning on the free first 3 hours instead of circling, since ALO doesn’t have a separate cell lot. Flyers on week-long trips deliberately park here to hit that $56 weekly cap rather than chase off-airport coupons in other cities. One simple move: on arrival, remember which side you entered from so you can pick the correct exit lane for your payment method.
