Terminal 2 hosts Tassili Airlines. It's Air Algérie's home turf at ALG. You'll find 2 dining options, 2 lounges here.
Older Terminal 2 handles Tassili flights, not the new T4
Terminal 2 at Houari Boumediene Airport is the older side of ALG and mainly handles Tassili Airlines services. Check your ticket for “Terminal 2” specifically; Terminal 4 is the newer flagship building, and the two are not interchangeable. Layout is simple: one departures hall, basic check-in area, then security and passport control feeding into a compact gate zone.
Check-in for Tassili in Terminal 2 usually opens about 2 hours before departure. Counters sit directly opposite the main entrance doors, so you’re at the desks within a minute or two of walking in. Lines can bunch up if multiple Tassili flights leave within the same 60‑minute window, so printing a boarding pass in advance can save time at the counter.
Security and immigration in T2 sit in a single linear lane just past check-in, so there’s no confusion about which way to go. With one main checkpoint and a small number of Tassili departures, most reports put the wait around 15–25 minutes outside peak evening banks. Still, plan closer to 30 minutes if your flight leaves between 18:00 and 22:00, when domestic and regional departures often stack.
Once you’re airside in Terminal 2, Restaurant Alger is the main sit-down option. Expect straightforward Algerian and international plates at typical airport pricing, roughly mid‑range by local standards. Figure on paying the equivalent of a few thousand DZD for a basic meal, so budget accordingly before you clear security if you prefer paying in cash.
Bar Alger sits closer to the gate area and works better for a quick stop. You’ll find soft drinks, coffee, and simple snacks suitable for eating at the bar in under 20 minutes. It’s useful if boarding is already posted on the screens and you want to stay within a short walk of your Tassili gate.
Terminal 2 lists both a Star Alliance Lounge and a SkyTeam Lounge, unusual for a building focused on a single national carrier. Entry rules depend on your airline ticket and status, so check if your printed boarding pass shows a lounge invitation. Space is limited compared with big global hubs, so don’t expect long buffet lines or long shower lists, but it still beats waiting in the main seating area if you qualify.
Shops in Terminal 2 are minimal and not well catalogued online, so don’t bank on finding a specific brand or a detailed duty‑free lineup. If you need something precise—SIM card, pharmacy items, or a particular gift—sort it in the city or in Terminals 1 or 4 earlier in the day. In T2, assume basic snacks and small items only and you won’t be surprised.
To keep stress low, treat Terminal 2 as a straightforward point‑to‑point facility: arrive 2 hours early, clear the single security and passport line, grab a quick bite at Restaurant Alger or Bar Alger, then head to your gate once boarding is called on the monitors.
