Gate 5 in Terminal 1 is the main reason to use this lounge

Near gate 5 in Terminal 1, the Air Algérie Lounge runs 24 hours and mainly functions as a quieter bubble away from ALG’s noisy main hall. BA and Iberia often depart from this end of T1, so flying those carriers or Air Algérie Business Class means you’re usually only a few minutes’ walk from your gate.

Access is straightforward: Air Algérie Business Class and Priority Pass get you in, and staff generally accept a paid entry of about €30 at the desk. One FlyerTalk regular notes that “all business travelers can use it whatever the company they travel with,” so don’t be surprised to see BA and Iberia passengers mixed in with Air Algérie customers near gate 5.

Food is basic and snack‑heavy: think Arab‑style sweets such as dates, petits fours and halawiyat maasla rather than cooked dishes. A BA flyer mentions “reasonable coffee,” plus soft drinks and tea, but there’s no real sign of substantial hot food, so plan to eat in the main terminal or on board instead of counting on a full meal here.

Alcohol is the weak point. Multiple reports say you’ll usually find beer and “perhaps some wine” in the fridge, and that’s it. During Ramadan, posters warn that alcohol service stops entirely, even in the lounge, so if a pre‑flight drink matters, check the calendar and adjust expectations before you pay that €30 day pass fee.

Seating runs on the older side, and the space feels more like a quiet waiting room than a premium flagship lounge, but it still beats hunting for a spare chair in Terminal 1 at peak hours. Power outlets exist but not at every seat, so charge in the hotel or terminal if you need 100% before a long flight out of gate 5.

What regulars do: BA and Iberia flyers use this lounge mainly as a calm place to sit close to departures in Terminal 1, grab coffee and sweets, and skim emails before boarding is called at gate 5. The smart move: eat in the terminal, then come here 60–90 minutes before departure simply for the quieter seats and Wi‑Fi.
