Main Terminal

Main Terminal overview

One dirt runway and a single small building sum up Alerta Airport’s Main Terminal in Peru’s Ucayali region. ALD handles light aircraft serving the village of Alerta rather than regular jet traffic or multiple gates. Think rural jungle airstrip, not a multi-level terminal complex.

Layout and basic facilities

The Main Terminal sits just off runway 09/27 and functions mainly as a check‑in and waiting shed for short hops to other Peruvian points. There are no airbridges, no jetways, and no gate numbers; you walk directly from the building to the aircraft on the apron. Expect a single public area with a few seats instead of divided concourses.

Check‑in, security, and arrivals

Flights at ALD operate as small regional or charter services, so check‑in usually happens at a simple counter or desk inside the Main Terminal. Security is minimal and handled on a flight‑by‑flight basis rather than through a permanent screening lane. Baggage claim is manual: bags are offloaded a few meters from the building and handed over near the apron.

Food, drink, and shops

No restaurants, cafes, or vending machines are catalogued inside the Main Terminal at Alerta Airport. There are also no duty‑free outlets, retail shops, or ATMs recorded for ALD. Bring water and snacks from Puerto Maldonado, Lima, or your previous stop, and carry enough cash in Peruvian soles for anything you might buy in the village.

Lounges and seating

There are zero lounges at ALD’s Main Terminal: no airline clubs, no pay‑per‑use facilities, and no priority programs listed. Seating is limited to basic chairs in the small public waiting area next to the check‑in space. In practice, most passengers wait less than an hour before boarding their light aircraft from the apron.

Connections and ground access

Since ALD has only the Main Terminal and one runway, there are no formal connections between terminals or domestic vs international zones. Nearly all travel through Alerta is point‑to‑point on small aircraft, with transfers handled at larger Peruvian airports like LIM or PEM. On arrival, you exit the building directly to local ground transport options arranged in advance with lodges or operators.

One practical tip

Arrive 60–90 minutes before your scheduled departure at Alerta’s Main Terminal and bring everything critical—water, snacks, printed confirmations, and cash—because there are no documented food outlets, shops, or bank machines anywhere at ALD.
