T2

Opposite the T2 check-in area, Kcell Activ Telecom handles quick SIM fixes before you head airside. This is the airport branch of Kazakhstan’s Kcell/Activ mobile network, focused on phone service rather than general electronics. Expect basic accessories on the shelves: charging cables, simple earphones, and power adapters, not full laptops or cameras.

Kcell Activ Telecom sits landside in Terminal T2, so handle your phone setup before security if you’re on a tight schedule. Staff generally speak Kazakh and Russian, with basic English often enough to get a prepaid SIM working. Bring your passport; Kazakh SIM registration rules apply even at the airport counter.

Prices track normal city Kcell stores, not duty-free discounts, so think “regular retail” rather than bargains. Data packages typically start at a few gigabytes and scale up; ask them to write the plan and expiration date on the package or a receipt so you don’t lose track on a long trip. You can usually pay by major credit card or local cards, but have some tenge ready in case the terminal is down.

Expect basic troubleshooting only: SIM activation, APN settings, and checking if your phone is compatible with local networks. They won’t repair broken screens or handle complex hardware failures. If your time is tight before a regional T2 departure, give yourself at least 20–25 minutes here, including the line and paperwork.

Practical tip: take a photo of your new phone number and the Kcell customer service short codes at the counter, then screenshot your plan details so you can top up easily once you’re past security in T2.
