Near T1 check-in, Snack Bar Express is the quick pit stop
Just off the main departures hall in T1, Snack Bar Express is the grab-and-go option before you head through security. It runs on a simple counter setup with a few stand-up tables, good if you have 10–15 minutes before dropping bags or printing a boarding pass. Expect basics: pre-made sandwiches, pastries, bottled water, soft drinks, and usually a couple of local snacks like chocolate bars and chips.
Prices sit in typical airport territory: plan on roughly 1,200–2,500 KZT for a sandwich or pastry and 500–900 KZT for bottled drinks. Coffee comes from a push-button machine, not a barista, so think quick caffeine, not third-wave espresso. If you want something filling, go for the meat or cheese sandwiches; if you just need sugar before an early flight, the croissants and cookies are usually the safest bet.
Snack Bar Express operates roughly from the first morning departures through late evening, tracking T1’s schedule rather than strict posted hours. That means you can usually grab something before a 06:00 flight and still find snacks after a 22:00 departure check-in opens. Seating is limited to a handful of spots; most people eat standing or carry food toward the security line.
Card payment is generally accepted, but a few flyers mention terminals at ALA occasionally hiccuping, so having 2,000–3,000 KZT in cash helps. Don’t expect made-to-order hot meals here; this is a rewrap-and-go counter, not a full kitchen like you’d find landside in larger hubs. For anything more substantial or healthier, you’ll need to look further into T1 after security.
Tip: if your bag drop in T1 opens close to departure, grab a drink and snack here first so you’re not stuck with only whatever is left by the gates 20 minutes before boarding.
