T1

Gate-side at T1, Cargo mainly serves airport and cargo staff

Cargo sits airside in Terminal T1 at Almaty International Airport, next to the logistics and handling offices rather than the main passenger food strip. It’s primarily set up for people working around the freight area, so you’ll see ground crew grabbing quick meals between shifts more than tourists snapping photos.

The menu leans local and simple, with laghman, plov, samsa, and shashlik-style skewers usually under 4,000–5,000 KZT. You’ll also find basics like fried eggs, soups, and salads that work for an early start before a 06:00 departure as well as late-night cargo runs. Coffee is mostly machine espresso and instant; tea is a safer bet and cheaper at around 500–700 KZT.

Hours flex around flight and freight schedules, and it’s often open from early morning through late evening on weekdays when T1 is busiest. If you’re on a passenger flight leaving from a remote stand linked to the logistics side, Cargo can be closer than doubling back to the central food court. Seating is basic canteen tables; think quick turnover rather than a lingering meal.

There’s limited English on signs, but staff are used to pilots and crew from different airlines using T1, so pointing at the counter dishes usually works. Cash in KZT or card both tend to be accepted, but smaller bills help if you’re just grabbing a 1,000–1,500 KZT snack like a pastry and tea. Portions skew on the heavier side, in line with typical Kazakh and Central Asian worker cafés.

Tip: If you have a standard passenger departure from the main T1 gates, eat near check-in or security first and treat Cargo as a backup option only if your boarding pass routes you close to the logistics wing.
