Charter Lounge

Seven lounges at ALA, but this one is charter-only

Almaty Airport (ALA) lists around seven lounges in total, and the Charter Lounge sits in the departures side as a space tied to charter flights rather than walk-up passengers or elite-status regulars. It operates for charter departures only, so access depends on your ticket and whether your tour operator or handling agent includes it.

Practically, that means you cannot buy a Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or pay-at-the-door entry here in T1 or T2; the Charter Lounge is routed through charter check-in and security flows, not the regular airline desks. If your boarding pass shows a charter service sold as part of a package holiday or group movement, ground staff at Almaty usually direct you at check-in or during security screening.

Reviews and photo sets cover five VIP lounges out of the seven counted at ALA, which strongly suggests the Charter Lounge falls into the remaining two non‑VIP spaces alongside airline or crew rooms. If you see signage simply saying “Charter” near the departures concourse after security, that is likely your only on-the-ground clue, because the lounge rarely appears in English-language marketing material.

This also means you should not plan a long layover around this space: mileage redeemers, oneworld or Star Alliance elites, and Priority Pass holders almost never mention the Charter Lounge on FlyerTalk or Reddit, which is telling. Treat it as a bonus room if your charter ticket mentions lounge access, not as the reason for choosing a routing through Almaty T1 or T2.

Facilities, food quality, and drink options are largely undocumented; even LoungePair’s Almaty guide that calls out five VIP rooms and seven total lounges does not break out the Charter Lounge with any detail. Assume basic seating, some drinks, and possibly light snacks in line with a functional departures room serving packaged charter traffic rather than a premium flagship space.

Tip: if your charter paperwork or voucher lists “lounge service” or a specific reporting time at Almaty, photograph that document and keep it handy at check-in; staff in T1 and T2 sometimes rely on those exact words to wave passengers into the Charter Lounge area rather than the main gate seating.
