King Salmon Airport Terminal

2 airlines 1 restaurant

Terminal 1 hosts 2 airlines. You'll find 1 dining option here.

One terminal, two airlines, zero confusion

Gate juggling isn't a thing at King Salmon Airport Terminal; Alaska Airlines and Ravn Alaska both operate out of the same small building labeled Terminal 1. The setup is single-level, with check-in counters near the main entrance and the security checkpoint only a short walk—well under five minutes—from the front doors.

Check-in for Alaska Airlines and Ravn Alaska sits just inside the main terminal doors, with counters side by side and baggage drop right in front. With only a few departures a day, lines usually build right before the first morning Alaska flight and again before the main afternoon bank, so plan to arrive 60–90 minutes before departure, especially on peak summer fishing days.

Security screening happens at a single checkpoint near the center of Terminal 1, serving all gates and both airlines. There’s no PreCheck lane and no CLEAR pod here, so everyone uses the same line and the same single X-ray and metal detector setup. Once you pass through, you’re fully airside; stepping back to the check-in area means you’ll need to run your carry-on through screening again.

Post-security seating sits directly beyond the checkpoint, with gate doors for Alaska and Ravn Alaska only a few steps apart. There are no jet bridges; boarding usually runs through ground-level doors out to parked aircraft on the ramp. Plan for a short outdoor walk to the plane in King Salmon weather and keep a jacket or rain shell handy at the gate.

Eddie’s Fireplace Inn, the one named restaurant linked with King Salmon Airport, sits off-terminal on Alaska Peninsula Highway, roughly a 5-minute drive from the airport entrance at PAKN. Prices run in the mid-range for rural Alaska, and plenty of passengers time a meal there before or after flying rather than banking on terminal food that doesn’t really exist.

Inside Terminal 1 you won’t find branded shops, duty free, or a catalogued sit-down restaurant; vending machines near the seating area and basic restrooms toward the back wall are the main amenities. With no recorded lounges of any kind, your “waiting room” is the general gate area benches, so download shows and charge devices before you leave town or your lodge.

Ground transport collects outside the main doors on the short terminal roadway, with local lodges often sending shuttles timed to Alaska Airlines arrivals listed under flight number series AS100–AS999. If you need a taxi or pre-arranged pickup, confirm the exact flight number and scheduled time from your confirmation email so your driver can track you in the small crowd.

One last tip: pack snacks in King Salmon itself or at your origin airport, because Terminal 1 at AKN doesn’t reliably sell hot food airside and Alaska Airlines’ buy-on-board options can run low on the later legs.
