Main Terminal at AJK: one small hall, two airlines

Two carriers use Arak Airport’s Main Terminal: Iran Air and Mahan Air, with only a handful of scheduled flights on most days. The building is compact and straightforward, so you move from the front door through check-in, security, and into the single departures area in just a few minutes when it’s quiet.

Check-in for Iran Air and Mahan Air usually opens about 2 hours before departure, similar to other regional airports in Iran. Counters sit directly inside the main entrance, with only a few desks active at once, so you can see which flight is open just by looking at the overhead flight tags.

Security screening in the Main Terminal comes right after check-in, with a short queue line and a single screening point active for most departures. With low traffic at AJK, you often clear in under 10–15 minutes, but during a bank of flights it still makes sense to arrive at least 90 minutes before takeoff.

This terminal has no catalogued restaurants, no branded coffee shops, and no sit-down dining, based on current public information. Plan to eat in Arak city before heading to AJK, since once you pass into departures the options are limited to whatever small kiosk or vending setup may be operating that day near the seating area.

No airline or independent lounges are listed for Arak Airport, so Iran Air and Mahan Air passengers all wait in the same common seating zone past security. Expect simple rows of chairs and basic facilities rather than any separate quiet room, business center, or paid lounge access program.

Shops are not documented in official listings for the Main Terminal, and there is no advertised duty-free. At most, you may find a small stand selling bottled water and basic snacks close to the departure gate area, so bring what you need from town, down to a printed book or offline entertainment for delays.

Ground access focuses on the short drive from Arak city to AJK, with the airport located roughly 10–15 km from the city depending on your starting point. Taxis are the default option, and with so few departures, you will not find a constant stream of cars, so pre-arrange a ride time instead of counting on flagging something at the curb.

For departures from the Main Terminal at Arak Airport, one practical tip: aim to arrive about 90 minutes before your Iran Air or Mahan Air flight, eat before you come, and bring your own water and chargers so the lack of food, shops, and lounge space does not catch you off guard.
