Cold sushi cabinet in T1 when you’re over burgers
In Adelaide Airport’s T1, Sushi Sushi gives you a pre-made sushi cabinet option instead of another hot burger or schnitzel plate. It’s the standard chain setup you see in Australian malls: plastic packs of rolls, nigiri and mini platters ready to grab, eat at the gate, or carry on board. Expect airport pricing in the $$ range and portion sizes that run smaller than the city shops.
Hours aren’t clearly posted online, but reviewers in 2020–2021 mention grabbing packs for both morning and evening flights, so it generally tracks with main T1 operating times. You’ll find the usual suspects: California rolls, teriyaki chicken, salmon and avo, along with larger mixed packs that can stand in for a full meal before a 3–4 hour hop. Pricing lines up with “airport-level” comments: more than a CBD Sushi Sushi, less than a sit-down pub meal airside.
Order the basic rolls or mixed packs if you just need something light and you’re heading to a gate in T1 within 20–30 minutes. Skip anything that looks like it’s been sitting in the cabinet too long, especially later in the day after about 6 pm, when reviews say freshness drops. If you’re picky about rice texture, buy earlier in the afternoon rather than right before a late-night departure.
Regulars grab a box, pay, and walk straight back to their gate seats instead of hanging around the counter. That works well at ADL, where T1 is compact and you’re rarely more than a 5–7 minute walk from any gate. Watch out for the small roll size; if you’re actually hungry before a 3+ hour flight, plan on two packs instead of one.
Tip: Do a quick check of the cabinet turnover: if staff are actively refilling around your visit, that’s the moment to buy; if it looks untouched and it’s late evening, consider a hot option elsewhere in T1.
