T2’s generic “Fast Food Outlet” sits landside near check-in
This spot in Terminal 2 is exactly what the name says: basic counter-service fast food near the T2 departures hall. Expect a short printed menu, usually with burgers, fries, and soft drinks, plus the occasional local-style sandwich. It’s one of the few quick options at ADD where you can order, pay, and be gone in under 15 minutes if lines are short.
Prices run higher than downtown Addis: think airport mark-up on simple items like a burger and soda, paid in Ethiopian birr or card. Portion sizes tend to be modest, so a full meal can easily hit the equivalent of a mid-range city restaurant. If you just want something to tide you over, go for fries or a single sandwich instead of a full combo.
Fast Food Outlet sits on the T2 side used by most Ethiopian Airlines international departures, so it works best as a “last snack before security” option. Because it’s landside, you still need to budget time for security and passport control after you eat; at ADD, that can run 30–45 minutes in busy morning and late-night banks.
Ordering is counter-based: you pay first, then wait for your tray. Service speed depends heavily on how many flights are checking in, especially around 23:00–02:00 when long-haul departures peak. Food quality is hit-or-miss, so stick to the safest items: fries, bottled drinks, and anything that looks freshly made in the display rather than something that’s been sitting under heat lamps.
Practical tip: if your flight from T2 boards within 60 minutes, clear security first and look for gate-area options; use Fast Food Outlet only when you still have at least 90 minutes before departure and the check-in hall doesn’t look slammed.
