Coffee Shop

T2

Gate-side caffeine fix in T2

This Coffee Shop sits in Terminal T2 at Addis Ababa Bole, handy if you’re flying Ethiopian Airlines on an international route. It’s past security, so you can grab a drink after clearing exit controls and before lining up at your gate. Think basic espresso drinks, tea and bottled water rather than a full café menu. Seating is limited and close to the traffic flow of T2, so plan on a quick stop instead of a long sit-down session.

Prices run higher than in the city, as expected inside ADD T2, with coffees and soft drinks typically a few US dollars when converted from Ethiopian birr. Food is usually simple: pre-packaged snacks, pastries and maybe a sandwich or two, not a full hot-meal setup. If you want something more substantial, you’re generally better off eating at your hotel or in town before heading to the airport and using Coffee Shop mainly for drinks.

Hours in T2 tend to track international bank times, with the Coffee Shop often open through the late-night wave of Ethiopian departures between about 22:00 and 02:00. Morning departures around 06:00 usually find it operating as well, but off-peak midday periods can be hit-or-miss. If you land on an early-hours connection in T2, don’t assume it’s open; have a backup plan for caffeine from the nearest duty-free fridge if shutters are down.

Service in T2 can slow down when several widebody flights board at once and 200+ passengers spill into the same corridor. Orders are simple, but payment queues can grow if multiple people pay with cards instead of cash. Have small birr notes ready and know your order before you reach the counter to cut the wait.

Tip: if your gate is in the higher 20s in T2, stop at Coffee Shop on the way out; backtracking five to ten minutes on a tight Ethiopian connection is not worth the extra espresso.
