Daily rates beat off-site lots if you’re gone 2–90 days
The Long-term uncovered lot at ACV sits a 4-minute walk from the terminal and works for Humboldt locals leaving a car for several days or even weeks. The county FAQ says you can park up to 90 days, and reviewers talk about month-long trips where they came back and the car was exactly as they left it. It’s on-airport, ungated, and run by LAZ Parking, so you pay at the exit kiosk instead of dealing with off-site shuttles.
There’s no shuttle here at all; one regular sums it up as “just park and walk, it’s a tiny airport.” The tradeoff is price versus convenience: the daily rate is lower than short-term, but you might end up in the far section of the surface lot and still walk those 4 minutes in Humboldt rain. A couple of reviews complain about that distance when the weather turns ugly, especially with luggage.
Signage is the weak point. Google reviewers say it’s easy to miss where short-term ends and the Long-term uncovered side begins, since it feels like one continuous lot. People doing multi-week trips often grab a spot on the rows closest to the terminal doors or along the terminal-side edge to cut their late-night walk down after a red‑eye return.
LAZ Parking handles issues like lost cars, dead batteries, or flats via a local phone line during business hours and a 24‑hour help button at the exit kiosk. Some long-stay travelers mention snapping a photo of the nearest light pole number or row sign when they park for 30–60 days, so they don’t have to call for help finding the car later.
Lighting is described as “adequate” but the lot can feel isolated around 11 p.m. or 5 a.m., so a few solo travelers say they prefer walking out with the rest of their flight. The FAQ also notes that items dropped in the lot sometimes end up at the Airport Administration Office near the mezzanine, where several reviewers say they reclaimed keys and bags.
Tip: On departure, park on the terminal side of the Long-term uncovered lot and snap a quick photo of your row and nearby pole number before that 4-minute walk in.
