Gate 5 in Kotoka T3 puts U Lounge right in the middle of the international departures flow, so it works well for both early and late flights. The lounge sits airside in Terminal 3, so you need to clear security and immigration before you can get in. It mainly serves passengers handled by Aviance Ghana, but walk-ins and pre-booked access are also on the table if there’s space.
Doors open at 5:00 AM and stay open until 12:00 AM, which covers the bulk of European and regional bank flights out of ACC. If you land on one of the late-night arrivals that miss the midnight cut-off, you’re out of luck here and stuck with terminal seating. Morning rush around 6:00–9:00 AM and evening waves from about 6:00–11:00 PM see the most demand.
Layout is standard single-room lounge style with seating zones facing the T3 concourse and apron near Gate 5. Power outlets are scattered but not at every seat, so if you spot a live socket next to a two-seat cluster, take it. Wi‑Fi is included in entry; if airport public Wi‑Fi slows down, the lounge network is usually the better bet for downloading Netflix or Teams files before boarding.
Food runs on a buffet line with hot dishes that track Ghanaian and international tastes, plus lighter snacks during shoulder periods. Expect basics like rice, stews, and finger food rather than restaurant-level plates; it’s functional, not a destination meal. Non-alcoholic drinks usually outnumber alcoholic by a good margin, so think coffee, tea, juices, and sodas first, beer and simple spirits second.
Access works three ways: airline-invited via Aviance Ghana, walk-in payment at the desk, or pre-book through third-party lounge programs. If you’re paying cash at the door, ask up front about stay limits, typically around three hours, so you don’t get tapped on the shoulder before a delayed departure. Priority and pre-book passengers sometimes get processed faster than casual walk-ins during bank times.
Noise levels spike when two or three widebodies at nearby gates board at once, especially around Gate 5 and its neighbors, so grab seats farther from the entrance if you want a quieter corner. To avoid queuing, aim to arrive around 90 minutes before departure for evening flights; that’s late enough to dodge peak crowds but early enough to get real use out of the lounge.
