Post-security meal option in ABV’s T1/T2: The Lounge Restaurant

The Lounge Restaurant sits airside at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, serving travelers in both T1 and T2 who want a sit-down meal instead of grabbing chips and meat pies from the smaller kiosks. It runs through the main daytime bank of flights, typically opening before the first morning departures and staying open into the late evening Nigerian and regional departures. Expect table service, basic Nigerian and international dishes, and prices higher than central Abuja but normal for an airport.

Menu lineups usually include jollof rice with chicken, fried rice, suya-style skewers, burgers, and sandwiches, plus bottled soft drinks and canned malt drinks. A main dish often lands in the ₦4,000–₦7,000 range, with sodas and water around ₦500–₦1,000. Portions skew moderate rather than huge, so if you are really hungry before a six-hour flight to Europe, order a starter or extra side of plantains or chips.

Service speed varies with bank times: during evening Lagos and international departures between roughly 18:00 and 21:00, food can take 25–40 minutes to arrive, while mid-afternoon gaps between waves might see plates out in under 20 minutes. Build that into your plan if your boarding time is tight, especially at the bus gates often used for regional flights in T1. Paying by card is usually possible, but the terminals can be temperamental, so carry some cash in naira as backup.

The Lounge Restaurant keeps standard soft drinks, bottled water, and sometimes local beers, with alcohol sales more common during later flights after 17:00. Don’t expect specialty coffee; you are more likely to see instant coffee sachets and simple tea bags than espresso shots or latte art. Food leans on straightforward cooking: grilled chicken, stewed meats, and simple salads, with spice levels sometimes toned down compared to what you might find in central Abuja.

Tip: Eat first, then move to your gate in T1 or T2 about 30 minutes before boarding, because announcements can be hard to hear from the restaurant and gate changes at ABV are not rare.
