Pricey seafood plates are the headline at Ocean Basket in ABV

Ocean Basket sits airside in Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, serving sit-down seafood in a terminal where fast food dominates. It’s one of the few places where you can get grilled fish and prawns instead of another burger before your flight out of Abuja. Expect a full restaurant setup rather than a quick takeaway counter, so this works best if you’ve got at least 45–60 minutes before boarding.

The menu follows the brand’s usual South African-style seafood lineup: fried calamari, fish and chips, prawns in lemon butter, and combo platters meant for two people. Mains often sit in the mid-range by Abuja standards, so plan on paying more than at the food court downstairs but less than hotel-restaurant prices in Wuse 2. Portions tend to be generous, and a shared platter can easily cover two not-too-hungry travelers.

Drinks are standard: bottled water, soft drinks, and usually a small selection of beers and wines by the glass. Soft drinks are typically only a bit above city prices, while alcohol can run closer to what you’d pay at a nicer bar in Abuja. There’s no bar-only seating, so you’ll be at a regular table even if you just want a quick beer and chips. Service timing sits in the 20–30 minute range for cooked mains when the terminal is busy.

There isn’t much online noise about Ocean Basket at ABV yet, which usually means service and food land in the “fine, not memorable” zone rather than disaster or standout. Expect competent chain-restaurant seafood, not Lagos-level coastal freshness. Card payments are the norm, though it’s smart to have a few thousand naira in cash as backup in case the POS system decides to misbehave.

Tip: if your boarding pass shows a tight 45-minute window to departure, stick to starters or a single fish-and-chips order; platters and mixed grills can take long enough to cut it close at the gate.
