Near T1 check-in, Layover Bistro is one of ABV’s few sit-down spots
Layover Bistro sits landside near the main entrance to Terminal T1 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, so you can eat here before security regardless of airline. That makes it useful if you’re early for an Air Peace or Arik domestic flight and don’t want to depend on snacks past screening. Expect basic café seating with tables close together and a steady stream of passengers rolling bags past you.
The menu usually runs to familiar bistro-style plates: rice dishes, sandwiches, grilled chicken, and a couple of pasta options, alongside soft drinks and bottled water. Prices trend high for Abuja but normal for an airport; plan on around ₦4,000–₦6,000 for a main plus a drink. Service pace can slip when a bank of flights departs in the 18:00–21:00 window, so build in 45 minutes if you’re ordering hot food.
Hours typically match daytime flight banks, opening by around 07:00 and often staying open until at least 21:00 when evening departures clear. Because Layover Bistro is pre-security, it also works if you’re meeting someone arriving on a late-afternoon international flight into T2 and want a place to sit and eat before heading into town. Just remember you can’t see the arrival hall screens from the tables, so check timings before you sit down.
Menu details shift, but grilled chicken with jollof rice is usually the safest bet, and a soft drink or malt runs roughly ₦500–₦800. Coffee tends to be instant rather than from an espresso machine, so skip it if that matters to you and grab water instead. Portions run medium, not huge, so don’t expect to split a single main between two hungry adults.
Tip: pay in naira when you can; card machines at ABV, including at Layover Bistro, occasionally go offline, so keep at least ₦5,000 in cash as backup.
