Gate-side in T1, Paul is the French-bakery option at ABJ.
Paul sits airside in Terminal T1, so you reach it after security and passport control on international departures. It runs through most of the flight bank times, generally opening early morning to catch the first outbound wave and staying open into late evening. Seating is limited and more café-style than full restaurant, so think quick sit-down before boarding at nearby gates in T1 rather than a long meal.
Prices run higher than downtown Abidjan cafés: expect around €4–€5 (or equivalent in XOF) for a coffee and around €5–€8 for pastries or simple sandwiches. The menu follows the standard Paul playbook: croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette sandwiches, quiche, and espresso-based drinks. It’s mainly self-service at the counter, with food ordered and paid before you grab a table or head back toward your gate.
Food quality is consistent by airport standards, with pastries and croissants the safest bet; they tend to hold up better than premade hot items sitting in the warmer. Coffee is serviceable, closer to chain café than specialty shop, and comes in standard sizes rather than the tiny espresso shots you might find in town. If your flight from T1 leaves before 09:00, this is one of the few sit-down spots open for a quick breakfast.
Practical tip: if you care about choice, stop at Paul before walking all the way to a remote T1 gate; options thin out the farther you go from the central post-security area.
