Airport Taxi Rank

Metered taxi

Metered taxi 15-20 min

9 km into Annaba in 15–20 minutes

The Airport Taxi Rank at Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport (AAE) sits directly outside T1 arrivals, giving you a metered car to central Annaba in about 15–20 minutes for the 9 km run. This is the least fussy option if you land late and just want a direct drop at your hotel or apartment.

Cars queue just beyond the main exit doors of T1, so you walk less than 100–150 meters from baggage claim to the first taxi in line. The rank usually has several taxis waiting after each arriving flight, so you rarely stand around more than a few minutes.

These are standard city taxis using a meter, which matters on a short 9 km airport–city hop where flat rates often punish visitors. Always check that the driver starts the meter before leaving the airport loop; if they refuse, step back to the rank and take the next car.

Count on around 15 minutes to Place d’Armes or other central Annaba streets in light traffic, and closer to 20–25 minutes if you hit the evening peak around 17:00–19:00. That’s still quicker than arranging a private transfer, which usually adds 10–15 minutes of meeting-point confusion at T1.

Late arrivals after 22:00 are where the taxi rank earns its keep: city buses thin out, but taxis still cluster outside T1 when an inbound flight shows on the screen. Fares naturally creep up at night, so ask for an approximate price range in Algerian dinars before you shut the door.

Step-by-step from arrivals to a taxi

  • 1. Clear passport control and collect bags in T1 baggage claim; this typically takes 15–30 minutes on international flights.
  • 2. Exit into the public arrivals hall and walk straight ahead for about 50 meters toward the main sliding doors.
  • 3. Step outside; the signed Airport Taxi Rank sits immediately to the right, with taxis lined up in a single lane.
  • 4. Approach the first taxi, confirm the driver will use the meter, and mention your destination in Annaba by street or landmark.
  • 5. Watch the driver start the meter before leaving the curb, then expect a 15–20 minute ride to most central addresses.

One practical tip: screenshot your hotel name and address in French or Arabic before landing at AAE, then show it to the driver at the rank to cut down on back-and-forth at the curb.
